Open Enrollment

Your needs may change from year to year, and your benefits should keep pace. Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to explore what’s new in 2027, compare your options, and make sure your coverage still fits you, your family, and your budget.

Jump to what you need
01

do I need to enroll?

This year’s Open Enrollment is passive, meaning if you take no action, most of your current benefit elections will automatically roll over into 2027. However, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) require new elections each year—they won’t carry over.

Open Enrollment is a perfect time to review your coverage and make sure it fits your needs.

Important: Even during a passive enrollment, you’ll need to take action if you want to add or change your coverage, add or remove dependents, or re-enroll in an FSA.
02

what’s new for 2027?

Every year, we take a fresh look at our benefits to make sure they’re delivering real value for you and your family. As healthcare costs rise, we’re making a few updates designed to keep coverage affordable and ensure our plans continue to meet the needs of all associates across IMA.

For 2027, updates include changes to medical costs, expanded cancer support, and new ways to save on prescriptions. Start with these highlights, then compare your coverage and paycheck costs below.

Changing

medical premiums

Medical premiums are increasing for 2027, and IMA will continue covering most of the cost. Compare your paycheck cost and IMA’s contribution below.

Changing

medical deductibles

Annual deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums (OOPM) have increased for these plans:

Blue Option PPO
Deductible: $1,500 Indiv./$3,000 Family
OOPM: $4,500 Indiv./$9,000 Family

Green Option QHDHP

GLP-1 prescriptions for eligible medical conditions, such as diabetes, may still be covered when plan requirements are met. Review the updated prescription information before making your medical plan election.

how the HSA works

the tax advantages of an HSA

An HSA offers three federal tax advantages: tax-free contributions, tax-free growth and tax-free withdrawals for eligible healthcare expenses. State tax treatment may differ.

turning 65 or planning for Medicare

Medicare enrollment ends your eligibility to make or receive HSA contributions. Retroactive Medicare coverage can affect earlier contributions, so review your timing with a qualified tax adviser before enrolling.

You can keep using existing HSA money for eligible healthcare expenses. After age 65, eligible premiums can include Medicare, but not Medigap. Other withdrawals are subject to income tax, but not the additional 20% tax.

IMA adds to your HSA

Eligible Green Option QHDHP participants who elect an HSA through IMA can receive up to these amounts each year:

Individual Coverage
$500
Family Coverage
$1,000

IMA’s contribution counts toward your annual IRS limit. If you are age 55 or older and eligible, you may contribute an additional $1,000.

Want to contribute to an FSA in 2027? Make a new contribution election during Open Enrollment, even if you currently participate.

supplemental life insurance

Purchase additional life insurance for yourself and eligible family members. Evidence of Insurability may be required. Coverage reduces at ages 70 and 75. Your rate depends on your age and coverage amount.

for you

Elect in $10,000 increments, up to 10 times your annual earnings or $500,000.

for your spouse

Elect in $5,000 increments, up to $250,000, not to exceed your coverage.

ready to enroll?

Give your benefits a little attention now, so they’re ready for the year ahead. Open Enrollment starts October 19, 2026. Be sure to make any coverage changes in UKG by October 30, 2026. Late enrollments will not be accepted. Your elections will be effective January 1, 2027, and will remain in effect through 2027 unless you experience a qualifying life event.

one last check

  • See what’s new. Review the 2027 changes and how they may affect your coverage or costs.
  • Find your fit. Compare the Blue Option PPO, Green Option QHDHP, and California Kaiser plan, if eligible.
  • Think beyond medical. Decide whether you want to keep or change dental, vision, Supplemental Life, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness or Identity Theft coverage.
  • Planning to use a spending account? Choose an eligible HSA or FSA that fits your needs. Make a new FSA contribution election for 2027, and review your HSA contribution amount if you participate.
  • Check your people. Make sure your covered dependents and beneficiary information are up to date.
  • Know what carries over. Most current elections continue automatically. FSA contribution elections do not, so take action if you want to contribute in 2027.
