disability insurance
If you experience an injury or illness that prevents you from working, disability coverage provides partial income replacement to assist you financially. IMA automatically provides both short-term and long-term disability at no cost to you.
STD coverage, administered by Lincoln Financial Group, provides you with income replacement if you are unable to work due to a non-occupational illness or injury. Benefits begin after seven calendar days of missed work. You will receive 100% of your weekly earnings for a maximum of 12 weeks.
STD benefits may be offset by benefits you receive, such as State Disability and IMA leave policies. Please note: Validated producers may be eligible for state STD plans; however, they are not eligible for IMA paid STD benefits.
After STD benefits are exhausted, LTD benefits begin, if approved. LTD pays you a portion of your earnings if you cannot work for an extended period of time due to a disabling illness or injury. You will be taxed on the premium. By doing so, the benefit will become non-taxable to you in the event you are ever disabled and qualify for LTD benefits. Benefits begin after 12 weeks of missed work. You will receive 60% of your monthly earnings up to $20,000 monthly.
You will continue to receive benefits until you no longer meet the definition of disabled or until you reach your Social Security Normal Retirement Age. Benefits are reduced by other sources of disability income you may qualify for such as Social Security and Workers’ Compensation.

These are only summaries of provisions and not a legal document; therefore, these summaries cannot answer all questions that might arise. If any statement listed above disagrees with the final document that makes up the STD payroll practice or LTD plan documents, the STD payroll practice or LTD plan documents will control. A complete description of the various benefits and limitations will be posted on the Intranet. IMA Financial Group, Inc., reserves all rights to amend, modify or change at any time in the benefits, costs, and other provisions relative to coverage. Those changes could include the complete termination of benefits for all individuals or certain groups of individuals; however, continuation of coverage rights under federal law, if any are then applicable, will be provided. If required by law, you will be given notice of any change which adversely affects benefits, costs, etc., and can cease participation if the change is not acceptable. No one will, however, acquire any vested (non-forfeitable) right to have benefits, costs, or other provisions remain unmodified or in effect.
